The Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) is a computing module plug-in format that can be used to add computing power to flat panel displays. The format was first announced in 2010 by NEC, Intel and Microsoft. The OPS format computing module runs on Intel and ARM based CPUs, running Microsoft Windows and Google Android. The main benefit of using OPS in digital signage is that it is very easy to replace the compute module in the event of a failure, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
